My Saturday mornings have meaning again!

YAY! The Farmer's Market is back in business!  I have been looking forward to it ever since we started shopping there last summer.  It got pretty bad, we were buying ALL THE THINGS it seemed.  Walmart sacks full of tomatoes, and cardboard boxes full of sweet onions every.single.weekend.  It's really become a staple in our house these days.  I just love knowing my food is local and clean and fresh, now that I am better educated.  Here's what we got this day!

Ooooh! So pretty!

For $13, we got quite a haul for our first trip.  Feast your eyes on this asparagus, more spinach than I could put in one container, green onions, Chinese parsley, and two more rosemary plants; because two wasn't enough, Goose said.  We also got these gems:
That's a 12 inch skillet, dude.

That's right, three giant goose eggs.  I tried to fit the whole yolk in my mouth but it didn't work out so much.  I got it in two bites and DIDN'T EVEN SPILL ANY!  I'm quite a fan of egg yolks.  Everyone else got the whites.  I'm actually pretty weird about it, I will cut all the white off around and eat the whites first and then stick the whole yolk up in my mouth.  I've been eating eggs that way forever it seems.  Today I didn't even bother with the whites, I went straight for that big ol' yolk.

Goose had been outside all day playing with the smoker.  He made some honey BBQ ribs for dinner and I made sure to do an extra workout so I could have as much as I could.  For the sides we totally had the asparagus with gorgonzola cheese broiled right on top, zucchini and squash sauteed with my home made sun dried tomatoes, and that yummy spinach salad.  Wanna see? I knew you did!

Kinda makes you wanna lick the plate, eh?

Okay, okay.  I know something is missing.  I completely forgot to take a picture of MY plate before I started eating.  The squash/zucchini is missing because I ate it all.  Oops.  So here's the leftovers, aka Goose's second dinner in a couple hours.  But I will tell you it was pretty, all sauteed up in some sun dried tomato infused olive oil and such.  Tasted pretty good too, if I do say so myself.  And I do say.  I bet you are wondering what's in that jar, too.  It's only one of my most favorite salad dressings I ever stumbled upon.  I got it from one of my most favorite recipe websites, for its low fat recipes and easy factor.  I don't "do" complicated recipes, you know so it has to be simple if I want to try it out.

I never follow anything to a T, so its tweaked a little from the original.  I added some of our herbs from the garden, and I seem to never make it the same way twice.  This time I think it's got basil, green onion, oregano, and tarragon in it.  I don't really remember.  Whatever, who cares? It's tasty, that's all that matters.

Thank you, Farmer's Market for FINALLY opening back up.  How can you feel guilty about stuffing your face with that? YOU CAN'T.
